Review March 2025

March 2025

Fashion & People

In March 2025, the KulturKids at KidsKultur embarked on an exciting journey through the world of fashion, textiles, and applied arts. Three unique exhibitions in Berlin offered the children the opportunity to explore history, design, and creative expressions – always integrated into the holistic Mind, Body & Soul concept.

From the glamorous "Fashion from Paris" to the magnificent "Reconstructions of Medieval Garments from Nubia" to "A House for Applied Arts, Fashion, and Design" – each exhibition visit became a voyage of discovery. Through interactive tasks, creative movement exercises, and profound reflections, the children were not only introduced to the world of fashion and art but also encouraged to explore their own identity and creativity.

Additionally, we provided the KulturKids with a selection of books on fashion, allowing for an even deeper engagement with the exhibitions. These books offered fascinating insights into the history of fashion, the evolution of design, and the significance of textiles in various cultures. They inspired the children to develop their own ideas and inspirations through reading and browsing.

In line with the Mind, Body & Soul philosophy, KidsKultur fostered the intellectual, physical, and emotional development of the children. They learned to express themselves through fashion and art, reflected on their own perceptions of beauty and style, and created small artworks that mirrored their inner world. This month was an invitation to understand the world through fashion and design and to become creative themselves.

We experienced three unforgettable excursions where the children not only discovered art but also actively participated and found their own creative voice!

Dates

01.03.2025"Fashion from Paris – Donation by Erika Hoffmann" (Museum of Decorative Arts)On the occasion of a donation by Berlin art collector Erika Hoffmann, the Museum of Decorative Arts presented 22 garments and accessories spanning more than 20 years of Parisian fashion history. The children learned how fashion in Paris had influenced social identity and the art scene over decades. They were invited to travel through fashion history, linked to the most beautiful designs of the Parisian fashion scene. In the tradition of Madame Grès, the children were allowed to drape and photograph outfits made of muslin fabric!

23.03.2025"A House for Applied Arts, Fashion, and Design" (Museum of Decorative Arts)The children gained insights into the world of applied design and fashion as an art form. They discovered how everyday objects and garments could become works of art. We created fashion collages on figurines in our sketchbooks using various materials.

29.03.2025"Draped in Splendor – Reconstructions of Medieval Garments from Nubia" (Bode Museum)In this exhibition, the children immersed themselves in the history of the opulent garments from Nubia and discovered the symbolic significance of textiles in past cultures. During this visit, we deconstructed a men's jacket to understand how it was made.

Mind, Body & Soul

Mind:

The children understood the creative process behind design and fashion, from the initial idea to the finished creation. They discovered how design could be both functional and aesthetic and reflected on how to view everyday objects from an artistic perspective.

Body:

The children experimented with creating creative design objects from simple materials. Through hands-on exercises, they learned that art can also be integrated into everyday life.

A movement session was conducted, where the children translated their designs into the world of art through dance and creative expressions.

Soul:

The children explored the idea of how design and fashion could influence their emotions and personal identity. They reflected on which materials or shapes they found particularly appealing and why.

In a creative closing workshop, the children created their own design pieces or accessories that reflected their personal "soul."
