Exploring a new Kiez

What Happened in October?

When the opportunity arose to visit a "Children and Youth Club," I didn’t hesitate to plan a series of events. Having taught dance at a Hamburg HDJ (Youth Dance School) until I was 18, I was familiar with many other children engaging in various activities there.

A sense of belonging, closeness, and security, along with interaction with children of different age groups and adults providing space for self-discovery and experimentation, is crucial for all children. Regardless of social status, background, or parental education level, an atmosphere is created where children have the chance to shape their own experiences.

What is Bose Club?

The Bose Club in Tempelhof became our home in October, and the children of the Bose Club were our hosts. It was a well-maintained, safe, and exciting new environment for the CultureKids to meet other children.

The children had the opportunity to experience social work up close, compare themselves with others, and find reflections of themselves in the other children. Through their questions and the observation of their interactions, I saw how they developed an appreciation for what they have and began creating processes to shape their future. Thanks also to the parents for their feedback!

At the Bose Club, the children showed us their club, their favorite playgrounds, played billiards with us, and invited us to a stick bread event.

Strengthening Social Skills

Targeted activities encouraged children to build relationships and make friends. These skills proved crucial as children became better equipped to resolve conflicts and problems peacefully without constant reliance on adults. Additionally, socially competent children navigated their daily lives more confidently, showing a better understanding of rules and their enforcement at the Bose Club.

The activities at the Bose Club were filled with fun and joy, emphasizing listening, sharing, making connections, forming friendships, collaboration, integration into diverse groups, and following instructions.

Public transportation was once again utilized to encourage the children to actively explore their surroundings and develop important skills.
